Product Innovation through Lifecycle Design

This ongoing project researches evaluation frameworks for building components, and develops several innovative building products made from recycled materials. Product development efforts focus on prototypical applications in a building, emphasizing lifecycle aspects, building performance and considering marketing and economic aspects. This project is related to the GSD "Lifecycle Design" course offering in the fall of 2011. Current activities include the development of two products made from recycled materials. The group is also pursuing several research studies that address the lack of comprehensive, product-level lifecycle rating systems.
