A ceramic design project by Linda Zhang and Jenny Hong was featured at the 2013 Milano (Italy) MADE exhibition.
The featured prototypes represents the core ceramic element of a thermally radiating ceramic screen to be used as an interior partition. The water-based heat transfer system allows for both cooling and heating using ceramic elements, referencing the age-old use of ceramic tiles as heat transfer surfaces in wood-burning ovens. The project was initially developed as a class project in the 2011 CeramicsLAB course taught by Martin Bechthold and Nathan King. Following MADE the pieces were installed in ASCER’s permanent exhibit in Castellón, Spain.
