Rethinking Scales of Knowledge

Although concerned with cities, the MCI takes a critical approach to the territorial boundaries of actionable space, seeking to recast or expand the scalar dimensions of urban knowledge — from the city down to the neighborhood, street, and human scale, on one hand, and from the city out to the metropolitan, regional, and transnational context, on the other. Our projects challenge the concepts and conventional territorial forms in which the field of urbanism operates, insuring that both small-scale and large-scale conditions enter into discussions of the urban realm.
