Harvard University GSD publishes Global Leadership in Real Estate and Design Course Publication

Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD) has published Global Leadership in Real Estate and Design, a course publication edited by course co-instructors Bing Wang, Associate Professor in Practice of Real Estate and the Built Environment and A. Eugene Kohn, Chairman of KPF.

The seminal publication features multidisciplinary course work and articles that investigate pedagogical intersections among real estate development, finance and design, which are manifested by development proposals for two distinct international field case studies situated in Guangzhou, China and Boston, U.S.  Challenged with investigating and negotiating various interests of stakeholders in the urban and social contexts, each student team proposed comprehensive development proposal to integrate development strategies, design solutions and financial structures in order to balance and maximize the idiosyncratic social, economic and environmental opportunities and values.

Expert industry contributors include Thomas Hussey, Director of Urban Design at SOM, Blair Kamin, Pulitzer Prize winning Architectural Critic of the Chicago Tribune, Thomas Kearns, President of DSK Architects + Planners, Thomas Schneider (MDes REBE ’14), Co-founder and CIO of fintech firm Brickvest (featured in the Financial Times) and Sven Andersen, Head of Real Estate M&A at KPMG Germany. Yong K. Kim, Urban Design Associate at HyperBina Design Group, is the designer for the publication cover and book design based on the GSD publication series design by Laura Grey and Zak Jensen.
