Envision™ rating system workshop at IDB’s headquarters

The Infrastructure and Environment Sector (INE) and Division of transportation (TSP) together with the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) in collaboration with the knowledge and Learning Sector (KNL), hosted a workshop focused on the fundamentals of Envision™ methodology due to the increasing interest of sustainability in infrastructure. The main objective of this presentation realized at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) headquarters  in Washington DC on June 6th, 2014, was to promote best practices in infrastructure using the Envision™ methodology.

Attendees coming from different departments of IDB such as Transportation Department, Infrastructure and Environment Sector, Gender and Indigenous people and Environment participated in the session which was primarily focused on the Envision™ background and its applicability to different projects.

The presentation done by the Zofnass-ISI team was composed of a summary on the Envision principles by Bill Betera, President & CEO of Institute of Sustainable infrastructure (ISI); the background and origins of the Envision™ rating system by Bill Wallace, president of Wallace Futures Group; the presentation of the Infrastructure 360º Awards initiative by Ana Maria Vidaurre, Principal Investment Specialist of IDB; and with the application of the Envision™ methodology through two transportation case studies Lima’s Metro Line 1 and the Baltra Ecological airport in Galapagos by Cristina Contreras, Research Associate at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design (GSD).

The workshop was conceived as a general introduction to Envision rating system. A more detailed analysis on the methodology will be developed in upcoming workshops.
