Robotic Casting | Toyohashi, Japan, 2013

DRG’s Prof. Bechthold conducted a workshop on robotic casting at the Toyohashi University of Technology in Japan.
Hosted by Prof. Shiro Matsushima, the workshop was the first of its kind ever held in Japan, a country with currently only two 6-axis robots at schools of architecture. 15 students and faculty participated at the 2-day event.

 

The prototype, cast in plaster, is assembled to test fit and effects. Each module is individualized through robotic manipulation.
