We are building a platform to strengthen urban research connections between actors and institutions already involved in novel or precedent-setting initiatives in Mexico, and Harvard Graduate School of Design students who will propose new projects through the MCI. Drawing on our strong community of design alumni working in and around Mexican cities, students will learn from and expand their collaborative networks with an array of urban innovators now in Mexico, thus helping to generate a more vibrant, transnational community of design activists capable of bridging the worlds of theory and practice.<\/p>\n

The MCI is fortunate to be able to draw on the intellectual support of many former students and a widening network of affiliates in Mexico. Together we are catalyzing a broader conversation about the future of urbanism in Mexico\u2019s cities, sharing ideas and collaborating to support ongoing work. Our growing community of affiliates are engaged in research, design, and practice contributions to the fields of urbanism, particularly as applied to Mexican cities and the contemporary challenges they face across multiple scales and sites. Many members of our community have also been invited to share work in our project archive in order to help make the work more publicly accessible.<\/p>\n
