Led by MDes REBE ’18 and RED Club President Andrew Kern in conjunction with GSD Alumni Eric Shaw and Justin Chapman, the real estate students of Harvard University met for a Real Estate “Trek” of Washington, D.C.. The group included graduate students from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School. Plunging into the development market in Washington, D.C., students saw the up and coming Capital Riverfront District and spoke with both public and private leaders about what it took to make the once blighted neighborhood what it is today. This focus on the interrelationship between government and development provided a behind the scenes look at the business negotiations between public and private entities.
