From July 2014 to January 2015, the design lab conducted research on Waste-to-Energy history, technologies, and plant typologies

Context and Drivers
From September 2014 to April 2015, the lab analyzed the Waste-to-Energy facilities context in Sweden and internationally. From October through July 2015 (in year 2) lab research focused on Waste-to-Energy context and drivers in the United States. This research included energy production, and projected Waste-to-Energy outputs in the future.

Design Elements
From March 2015 and continuing into Year 2 of the project, the lab reviewed architecturally interesting Waste-to-Energy facilities (precedent analysis), to determine more general design opportunities and methods.
