Nelida Escobedo

Nélida Escobedo Ruiz is an architect and urban planner, specialized in housing and sustainable urban development in Latin America. Prior to her work in the Waste to Energy Design Lab, she worked as Researcher Associate at the Harvard GSD in the project ReThinking Social Housing in Mexico, led by professors Diane Davis and Ann Forsyth. Her contributions include quantitative and qualitative work for the main body of research, co-authoring planning guidelines for sustainable densification, and drafting policy recommendations for institutional redesign of housing programs and policies in Mexico. Escobedo’s research experience includes extensive knowledge of housing and urban development policies in Mexico, organization and coordination of fieldwork in multiple locations, and editorial production.
