Infrastructure 360º Awards Ceremony at Salvador de Bahia, Brazil

The Infrastructure 360º Awards initiative started more than one year ago with the call for applications announced at the 11th Latin American Leadership Forum in infrastructure in Mexico City. Twelve out of the sixty total applicants were selected for a detailed assessment based on Envision rating system. The project assessment of this twelve finalists was done by a team of researchers from Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD), leaded by the research associates Cristina Contreras and Hatzav Yoffe. The evaluation work concluded several months later with the elaboration of twelve case studies used as finalists for the selection of the wining projects. This final selection was done following the deliberations and unanimous decisions of an outstanding group of worldwide expert panelists. The Infrastructure 360º Awards initiative also featured Sir Norman Foster, Pritzker Laureate 1999 and industry leader, who talked about the importance of sustainability in infrastructure projects.

In the closure of the Infrastructure 360º Awards, the three winning projects were announced last March 28th at the IDB’s annual meeting in Bahia, Brazil. The awards ceremony was conducted by Prof. Andreas Georgoulias, Director of Research of Zofnass program, and by Ana Maria Vidaurre-Roche, IDB’s Principal Investment Specialist. The winning projects were announced by IDB’s President Luis Alberto Moreno.

The three awarded projects were:

People and Leadership award: Los Cocos Windfarm, Dominican Republic

Climate and Environment award: Aura Solar I PV Plant, La Paz, Mexico

Infrastructure 360 award: Lima Metro Line 1, Lima, Perú
