Choosing the Right Infrastructure After COVID-19

He will introduce the workshop by analysing how the COVID pandemic has changed the demand for infrastructures in sectors from transport to energy to retail and information. He will then explore some critical questions around the need for repurposing existing infrastructures and evolving the need assessment for new infrastructures.

Piero Pelizzaro is the Milan Chief Resilience Officer and the City Lead for the H2020 Lighthouse project Sharing Cities at the Municipality of Milan.

He is an advisor of the Italian Ministry of Environment Land and Sea on Urban Adaptation Policy to Climate Change. Piero will present the City of Milan “Milano 2020” Plan that has been prepared to transform and adapt some critical urban infrastructures after the COVID19 pandemic.

Patrizia Lombardi is the Deputy Dean of the Polytechnic University of Torino.

She is Full professor at the Interuniversity Urban And Regional Studies And Planning Department, and President of the Italian Network of Universities for Sustainable Development. Patrizia will describe the activities carried out by the Polytechnic University during the COVID pandemic to support the re-opening of critical activities and the role the university is playing in the context of the “civic university” mission.
