Caroline Filice Smith

Caroline Filice Smith is a MAUD candidate at the Harvard GSD and holds a BArch from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Having previously worked for UNStudio in Shanghai, and Michael Maltzan Architecture and Ball-Nogues Studio in LA, she has a broad experience managing complex architectural and urban projects around the globe. She is currently the Coordinating Research Assistant for the Boston Portal of the Harvard Mellon Urban Initiative, where she is working on the spatial politics of city-wide urbanization policies. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally at venues such as The London Festival of Architecture, The Venice Biennale, and The Storefront for Art and Architecture in NYC. Broadly, her interests are situated on the space of social struggle and institutional conflict within geoeconomically driven zones of securitized urban and infrastructural development. She is excited to expand upon these interests, and previous research into urban self-management networks, within the complex context of Kanasín.
