Exposure to environmental toxins — from poor indoor air quality, vehicle exhaust to industrial waste —  is linked to negative health outcomes.  Existing research indicates that some exposure is due to individual behaviors, such as smoking, but that residential proximity to toxins in the built environment is a key contributor to negative health risks.  This brief summarizes the latest in research on the topic of toxics, health and place.
